Guidance for meeting during the Health State of Emergency

Summary
 Executive Order 8.15.20.01 permits non-profits to meet virtually until 8.31.2020 due to the current Health State of Emergency

The Health State of Emergency is in place until 9.10.2020, but does not automatically extend virtual meetings to entities.

Voting needs to be available only to those eligible to cast a vote.

 To assist our local units navigate meeting during the current Health State of Emergency, we provide the following guidance:
1. State Law supersedes Association Bylaws

2. The current Executive Order (Section V., pgs.15-17) permits non-profits to meet virtually. To quote, “Ordered: That all businesses, establishments, corporations, non-profit corporations, or organizations that are not Critical Infrastructure that continue in-person operations during the effective dates of this Order shall implement measures which mitigate the exposure and spread of COVID-19 among the workforce. Such measure shall include the following: 11. Holding all meetings and conferences virtually as practicable;”

3. Executive Order 8.15.20.01 is in place until August 31, 2020

4. Voting during virtual meetings: utilize a platform (either the meeting platform or alternative platform or service) which permits for only those eligible to cast their vote to submit a ballot.

This information is currently valid only until 31 August 2020. If the Executive Order is extended, Georgia PTA will provide information to our membership through our communication channels.
