The 2016-2017 board has a VACANT SECRETARY position. Come prepared to nominate a member from your local PTA unit during the School of Information meeting. Minutes from the previous meeting from May are posted under the tab “Minutes” up above. Please review them before the next meeting on Tuesday August 30th at 6pm at Brookwood Elementary School. Dinner will also be provided at this meeting.
Lot’s of changes are being made at the State Level for Reflections. If your school plans on participating in the Reflections program for 2016-2017, please ensure that a representative from your school attends training on:

Consider nominating individuals from your local unit. The completed award forms along with supporting documentations are due via email on/before Saturday, April 15, 2016, 7:00 pm EST.

Both Area 1 and Georgia PTA Award winners will be announced at the End of the Year PTA Awards & Appreciation Dinner on May 10, 2016 at Shiloh High School.

We had a total of 13 awards given to Area 1 students at the Woodruff Arts Center yesterday. (Due to a typo on the program, Sebastian Soler of Crews and Lola Greer of Brookwood Elementary were accidentally left out on my initial report).
This is the most awards given to Area 1 in THREE YEARS!!! Yea!!! Thanks to ALL the Local Units for your hard work! Over 2000 Entries were judged in all categories. This is a huge accomplishment for these students. Here is the breakdown of Awards received.

Area 1 Gwinnett County Council of PTAs plans to award 5 scholarships for 2015-2016, one for each cluster high school in good standing. Each scholarship will be $500. Area 1 Gwinnett County Council of PTAs Scholarships’ assist students who are targeted to successfully complete high school in 2016 and interested in furthering their education in an accredited college or university or a career-ready program (ex. medical technician, nursing program, dental assistant, electrician, etc.); to prepare themselves for careers of their choice with the goal of having these individuals maintain their support and commitment to the advancement of education. This is a one-time, non-renewable scholarship. The scholarships are funded solely through local unit PTA dues and contributions.
